Two Lakes is an poignant yet soothing album that mixers and blends togeather tuneful yet melancholic and atmospheric electric/acoustic guitar textures, subtle elctroincs and drones with field recordings taken from two coastal lake ecosystems off the coast of New South Wales in Australia.

The project brings together Australian electric/acoustic mood setters Seaworthy (aka guitarist Cameron Webb) and sound-artists/ electro soundscaper Matt Rösner. In April of last year the pair travelled to the two coastal lake ecosystems of Meroo and Termeil which lie on the south Wales cost line of Australia. There they undertook field recordings of the lakes, surrounding beaches, forests and streams. During breaks in field recordings the pair retreated to a near by log cabin where they built a drifting, deeply atmospheric yet improvised sonic mix of electric and acoustic guitar, ukulele, bells, subtle electroincs and very minimal percussion. Later when they had finished their field recordings,which took place at different times of day and night, the pair mixed their improvised music and the field recordings together to create what we hear today.

The album perfectly balances and merges the harmonic and musical elements with the often windswept, watery and at times deeply sad field recordings taken from the two lakes- each element seems to enhancing the other perfectly to create this beautiful and poignant record. There’s a very distinctive melancholic autumnal or near dusk feeling that pervades much of the album, and though it never becomes too doomy or dark, it’s rich with a deep and aching sadness that has a very deep emotional vein running through it that every one will be able to relate to.

Two Lakes is a slow, haunting and very human record that effortless blends together felt and emotional music with field recordings into one breathtaking whole. Another great 12K record and one of this years highlights
