Very nice: The Japanese guitarist and electronic musician Keiichi Sugimoto has revived at least one of his solo aliases, namely FourColor, after a much too long break, after his band project Minamo reappeared two years ago after a decade of inactivity. Lightscape (April 5) is currently focusing more on his first instrument, the acoustic guitar, as was also recently heard with Minamo. What makes all of Sugimoto’s projects special and recognizable was and is the accessibility and warmth of the sounds, which, unusual in the often strict environment of electroacoustic composition and free improvisation, never sounds abstract or uninviting, but deeply human, even humanistic. That has not changed in the past 25 years.
