On March 14th, 12K will release the new digital one-track album “Now We Are Branches And Leaves”, a collaboration between Danish musician and collage artist øjeRum (Paw Grabowski) and Australian trumpeter and composer Peter Knight. The hour-long composition combines minimalist, recurring piano motifs with subtle electronic elements and a trumpet whose melancholic tone blends into multi-layered, slightly rushing textures.

Despite the spatial distance between Copenhagen and Melbourne, an atmosphere of close proximity is created, a fragile balance between the individual components, which in their opposites combine to form a new, coherent whole. The warm, at the same time almost ghostly sound aesthetic creates a haunting tension: restraint and emotional density flow into one another. øjeRum has established himself as an influential artist in the field of reduced, textural ambient music with numerous releases on labels such as Room40, IIKKI and Opal Tapes. Peter Knight is known for his cross-genre compositions, including his work with the Australian quintet Hand to Earth and collaborations with Senyawa.
