MM Works is the Copenhagen-based duo of Mathias Lystbaek and Mads Lassen. They create music that is open and subtle, containing hints of jazz, ambient and post rock. Their sound is free, improvised and alive. Drums, guitar and flute are the primary instruments and sit atop quiet, phrased and locked looping tones and electronics. The result is sense of air and fluttering movement floating over a pool of darkness, a contrast very important to their vision.
Park was recorded in early spring as Denmark transitioned between seasons and feels like interstitial music belonging to both winter and spring, both coldness and warmth, darkness and optimism. As winter chill was receding, Mathias and Mads spent days in the studio, channeling the weather, and letting the outdoors spill into their playing, the subtlties of these moments fused into their work.
